Spotlight is a publication specializing in spreading the news in the entertainment industry including, but not limited to tv shows, movies, books, and music. The inspiration for the name comes from term 'spotlight', which is commonly used in the entertainment business especially in terms of performances in front of the camera or a live audience. Spotlight in itself means a light focused on one spot. Therefore, one of the letterforms is designed differently; in the shape and in the color.
The first spread emphasizes the feature article about the newly released film, A Quiet Place. The film is famously known for being quite silent throughout the film. This silence increases the suspense and danger surrounding the main family hiding from creatures hunting based on sound. The illustration shows John Krasinski in a pose that tells you to be quiet. The thin lines portray the delicate silence throughout the film as well as the imminent danger. The red lines in the background is a map of the location where the film takes place. In addition, these lines connect with a key point in the film: red lights hanging to signal danger to those around or on the property.
